Yin Yoga is a more meditative form of yoga. In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive “stress” on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Great for all body types. (No previous yoga experience required.) Wednesdays at 9am and 5:30pm and Thursdays at 5:30. Drop ins welcome! ($12 drop in or register for the monthly series discount at $10/class.)
Kim Nixon offers a traditional Hatha Yoga class, integrating styles from a variety of yoga traditions. Class emphasis is on breath-linked movement, body alignment, creating body awareness, and learning to “listen to your body.” A typical class may incorporate meditation, pranayama (breath techniques), gentle movement, and both standing and seated postures.
Joy’s personal goal is to provide yoga classes that are accessible for all, and focus not only on the asanas (body postures) but pranayama (breath control), and pratyahara (control of the senses through meditation). She looks forward to joining all experience levels (especially beginners) in their yoga journey! The only requirement is to show up!

Through mantra, you will use sound vibration to connect to your inner teacher and express your unique essence; through kriya (a sequence of postures, breath, and sound), you will prepare your body for meditation; through meditation, you will calm your mind.
