Iyengar Yoga with Nancy Kelley
Iyengar Yoga is known for its emphasis on precision and alignment in the postures and for making use of various props such as see blankets, blocks, straps, pillows, and bolsters . The use of these props is comparatively new in the history of yoga and comes directly from Iyengar. The purpose of the props is to assist the student in attaining ideal alignment, even if the body is not yet open enough.
Even though this style of practice is adaptable to different levels, Iyengar is also very appealing to more advanced yogis who want to work on their alignment. People who have an interest in anatomy, and an appreciation of subtle movements in the body may enjoy Iyengar-style practice.
Tuesday 6pm, Saturday 8:30am:
This is an Iyengar style yoga class for intermediate to advanced students. Expect some physical intensity suitable for those with some yoga experience and general physical fitness. It is important in any yoga class to listen deeply to your body and respect your personal limits without judgement.
Wednesday 9am, Thursday 6pm & Friday 10am:
This class is appropriate for beginners to advanced students. Beginners must be willing to listen to their own bodies rather than forcing their bodies to do things they are not yet ready to do. One of the main purposes of yoga is to cultivate feeling and awareness in the body.
Friday 1pm Yoga for Seniors, Ages 50 to 100:
