Insight Dialogue Meditation Retreat October 12-14, 2012

Opening to Life - A Retreat at The River Studio with Mary S. Burns

Human relationships are full of joy and sorrow offering us constant opportunities for suffering and for positive transformation.  With Insight Dialogue we gather together to learn skillful means while meditating together.  Gradually we come to know that the simple act of opening to life without being controlled by reactivity is transformative.

In this retreat we will practice silent meditation side by side, and interpersonal meditation face to face.  Clear meditation instructions will support meeting the moment, settling the mind, opening the heart, sharing silence, listening deeply and speaking the truth.  As the heart mind calms and steadies, experience can be known just as it arises.  Coming together in the natural receptivity of mindfulness we inquire into the repetitive habits of relationship.  What arises in me as I sit with you?  When do I turn away from experience?  How do I  construct reality and relate through it?

The synergy of silent meditation and interpersonal meditation will reveal the ordinary habits of our hearts and minds;  the retreat space, your strong intention, and skillful guidance will support your capacity to meet the conditions of life with creativity, wisdom and compassion.  Your practice will be supported by guided contemplations, care of the physical body and loving kindness meditations.

Whether Insight Dialogue is new or familiar, you are welcomed.  Prior meditation experience is beneficial. If you have questions about the retreat or its suitability, please contact Mary at marysburns@gmail.com or  Patty Cumler-Bryant, riverstudiohallowell@gmail.com
