Kathryn was first introduced to yoga by her sister at the age of seven but started a serious pursuit of the art in 1996. Yoga and meditation have been — and continue to be — places of refuge, solace, peace, self inquiry, reflection, and exploration for her. Kathryn pursued yoga teacher training in order to share this transformative practice with others. She earned her 200-hour Yoga Teacher certification from ShivaShakti School of Yoga and her 200-hr KRI Level One certification in Kundalini Yoga with Hari Kirin Kaur Khalsa, Ajeet Kaur Khalsa, and Gurucharan Singh Khalsa. Kathryn has additional certifications in Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Yin Yoga. She is currently pursuing her 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher training with ShivaShakti and plans to begin her Professional Yoga Therapist Program at Kripalu in 2020.
Online, blended, and traditional teaching and learning research and practice is another passion for Kathryn. She serves as the Director of Online Learning at ShivaShakti School of Yoga & Healing Arts, Director of the Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute, adjunct advisor at Johns Hopkins School of Education’s Ed.D. program, and as an education consultant.
Kathryn lives in Dresden with her husband, Curtis, and their fur babies — three cats (Charlie, Roland, and Oliver) and a dog (Piper).
