Dance Movement with Christine Little

Christine Little~Dance Movement Therapist

Class Descriptions

Nature’s Stories (ages 7-10),  60 minute class

Dancers will experience the joy of creating movement with nature as our source of inspiration. Together, the children will co-choreograph a dance creating their own movement and costumes. Final choreography will be shared with parents during a studio showing.  $80 per session due upon registration

Upcoming classes

Authentic Movement (adults)

A moving meditation, Authentic Movement is a practice of deep listening to the body and its own impulse to move and to be moved. Also know as Contemplative Dance, participants explore movement with non-judgmental and unconditional acceptance, allowing imagery, sound, memory and sensation to inform the movement. Expression with visual art medium follows the movement session and furthers the creative process. The session culminates with verbal dialog to bring the experience into relationship.

Summer Creative Dance Camp. It’s Your Move: Tools of Choreography (ages 9-12)

Dancers will learn the art of choreography and create their own dances. Classes will consist of exercises and activities to explore sources of inspiration, use of stage space, the impact and choice of using sound/music/silence, dances as solos/duets/trios, etc. Dancers will have the opportunity to choreograph a final dance to be shred with parents during a studio showing. $145 due upon registration

Vietnamese Stick Exercise (adults)

Based on  Chi Gong practice, this series of 16 exercises harmonizes breath & movement, energizing the body and calming the mind.

Cancellation Policy  Classes are cancelled if Hall-Dale schools are closed or after school activities cancelled due to inclement weather. School closings will be on the news, and a cancellation message will be left at 462-3812. In the event that class is cancelled due to personal or property emergency (ie power outage, etc.), an email will be sent to all students in addition to a message left at 462-3812. Please check emails on the day of class! Make-up classes are scheduled at the end of the session, if needed.

Christine Little

Christine's first memories of dance are of doing the Hokey Pokey at family reunions with relatives of all ages! She then fell in love with dancing with friends at home parties, contra dances, and festivals and eventually studied dance formally at the Boston Conservatory, where she majored in choreography. It was during this time that Christine discovered the power of movement to express one's inner self. In addition to teaching creative movement to children in
