Nancy Kelley has been a student of yoga and Buddhist studies since the ’60s. Her main area of study was Iyengar yoga, but she has also worked with teachers of Kripalu, Sivananda, and Ashtanga. Nancy has a sincere interest in using yoga as a form of holistic care for the body and soul. practice. Nancy began teaching yoga in the late 1990s. In addition to teaching at The River Studio, she also teaches yoga and meditation at Granite Hill Estates and at Maine General.
Nancy’s classes emphasize precision and alignment in postures. She encourages and assists with making use of various props such as blankets, blocks, straps, pillows, and bolsters in order to assist students in attaining proper alignment. Nancy’s teaching style appeals to intermediate or advanced yogis who want to work on their alignment, but all levels are welcome.
